I offer a compassionately direct approach to guiding my clients toward transforming their daily lives. My presence is solid, and I am an active listener.
My primary counseling training is in the Hakomi Method, a body-centered psychotherapy approach that invites mindfulness and embodied self-awareness to the healing process. I have a Masters in East-West Psychology from California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, at which I received a Spiritual Counseling Certificate with emphases in archetypal psychology, Eastern spiritual traditions, and nature-based therapy approaches. Additionally, I am formally trained in sacred and ceremonial methods of accessing expanded states of consciousness for healing.
I am trained in and currently practicing as a nature-based mentor and rehabilitation counselor for marginalized and socioeconomically disadvantaged youth both with Gateway Mountain Center and in my private practice.
My counseling work is equally informed by my personal engagement with music and sound, a several year meditation and yoga practice, breath-work, deep nature connection, and conscious/healthy eating practices. I very much enjoy working with clients in the outdoors, facilitating deeper connection with nature through ritual and working with the inherent symbolism and life force energy of the natural world.
I was born in New Orleans and grew up under the grand skies of Texas. Here my psyche was shaped by the magic and vastness of the great plains. I currently live, love, and play in Nevada City, CA with my wife Olga and son Julian.
